Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcome their first child, a baby girl

The royal family just got a little bigger!

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have just welcomed their first child together, a baby girl.

The new royal bub arrived at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London on Saturday September 18 at 11:42pm, however the birth wasn’t announced until Monday September 20.

An official announcement from Buckingham Palace read: “The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

“The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

The new royal mum also took to Twitter with a brief statement sharing the news of her daughter’s birth.

“So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London,” she wrote.

“Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.”

Beatrice and Edoardo welcomed their little bundle of joy just months after celebrating their first wedding anniversary in July.

The pair wed in an intimate surprise ceremony on July 19, 2020, during the coronavirus lockdowns in the UK, after their original plans for a big royal wedding were cancelled.

Beatrice made the most of her special day despite restrictions, wearing a bespoke Norman Hartnell gown borrowed from her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and altered for the Princess of York’s wedding.

The royal was first linked to the successful property developer in mid-2018 after they reportedly hit it off after meeting at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

Edoardo, 38, works as a property developer, and is reportedly a multi-millionaire owning a property consultancy company specialising in finding and developing multi-million dollar homes.

Beatrice and Edoardo announced they were expecting their first child together in May, and are the fourth royal couple to welcome a child in 2021.

Princess Eugenie, Beatrice’s sister, gave birth to her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank in February, when they welcomed a son named August.

Zara and Mike Tindall added a third child to their family in March with the arrival of baby Lucas, who joins their two daughters Mia, seven, and Lena, four.

And in June Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child, baby Lilibet “Lili” Diana, rounding out their family of four with son Archie, two.

All of the royal children born in 2021 have been given names with sweet tributes to their great-grandparents and other beloved royals.

August and Lucas both carry the middle name “Philip” in honour of their late great-grandfather Prince Philip.

Meanwhile Harry and Meghan bestowed two royal names upon their daughter; Lilibet, one of the Queen’s childhood nickames, and Diana, for Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.

Beatrice and Edoardo have not yet announced their daughter’s name.

This is Beatrice’s first child, and the second for Edoardo, who shares his son Christopher “Wolfie” with ex-fiancée Dara Huang, an American architect and designer.

She and Edoardo co-parent Christopher while Beatrice says becoming a stepmother has been a “great honour.”

The couple even included Christopher in a special role on their wedding day, and he will likely play a big part in his new sibling’s life.

The royal family even included a sweet mention of him in the official announcement of his baby half-sister’s birth.

Beatrice and Edoardo’s daughter is the 12th great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth II, and currently sits 11th in line to the British throne behind the likes of August Brooksbank, Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, and the three Cambridge children.

Like her cousin August, Beatrice’s child does not carry an official royal title because they are passed down through the male line of the royal family.

That means Beatrice, who bears the title of HRH (Her Royal Highness), was unable to pass her title onto her daughter or any other children she has.

A huge congrats to the royal couple on their new addition!
