Meghan Markle nearly tripped over at Prince Harry’s cousin’s wedding after getting stuck in mud

Looked like a sticky situation.

Just a few days on from touring Cheshire with her new grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan Markle’s royal duties have since taken her to Lincolnshire in the UK to stand by her beloved Prince Harry to watch his cousin, Celia McCorquodale, tie the knot.

Video footage of the pair arriving for the ceremony has emerged and while Meghan has already set tongues wagging with her $7,000 Oscar de la Renta dress (we’ll get to that later), it is Prince Harry’s lovingly watchful eye that has captured all of our attention.

Harry, always beaming with Meghan.

Walking hand-in-hand down a hill towards the St. Andrew and St. Mary’s Church in the small village of Stoke Rochford where the wedding of Princess Diana‘s niece was to take place, you can see Meghan’s heel appear to get caught in the grass.

Prince Harry then tightens his grip, allowing his Duchess to steady herself, before the two continued towards the church.

Blink and you’ll miss it! The Duchess almost becomes stuck in the mud.

But with Harry by her side, she quickly recovered from a potential tumble.

Clearly, in Harry’s eyes, Meghan is his one and only, and could never put a foot out of line (even if it did get stuck in the lawn…). And we imagine that this is why he probably wouldn’t care what Meghan wore – to their royal wedding, for her tour of Cheshire with the Queen, and to this wedding. However, Meghan’s blue, floral, boho-looking dress has left royal fans divided.

Indeed, the divisive Oscar de la Renta dress appears to swim on Meghan and is a far cry from her usual structured ensembles (a couple of which have been designed by Givenchy). Not only that, but her fascinator heeds a little less uniqueness than those that she wore to, say, Trooping The Colour and Christmas with The Queen.

Meghan’s latest fascinator is a little less flashy than the one she wore at Christmas time with the royals.

… And at this year’s Trooping The Colour.

But we believe we know the reason why…

Perhaps Meghan was following in Duchess Catherine’s footsteps and opted to not overshadow the bride on her special day. Think about it: at Meghan and Harry’s wedding, Catherine went for a cream coat dress – almost identical to the coat dress she wore for Princess Charlotte’s christening, the 2016 Trooping The Colour and her 2017 tour of Belgium. It’s classic, chic, but not showy – as to not steal the attention from the bride.

Kate loves keeping things stylishly safe at royal events.

Not only that, but for her sister Pippa Middleton’s wedding, the Duchess of Cambridge frocked up in an elegant yet demure flesh-coloured frock-and-fascinator combo – again, not to take the spotlight from her beautiful bride of a sister. She also made it her duty to supervise the pageboys and flower girls (including Prince George and Princess Charlotte).

See? These royals are more stylishly selfless than you think!
