The glowing Duchess, who is six months pregnant, paired a gorgeous Brandon Maxwell crepe dress and matching jacket with lace up Aquazurra heels, which look to be the same pair she wore during the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry.

The 37-year-old completed the look with a Carolina Herrera clutch and gold earrings from ethical Canadian jewellery brand Ecksand.

Taking over as royal patron from the Queen, who had held the role for the past 45 years, Meghan met with former apprentices from the National Theatre‘s apprenticeship and trainee programs as well as meeting the company of the theatre’s Public Arts production Pericles.

The theatre’s Public Arts initiative focusses on working with arts and community organisations across the UK to create ambitious new worlds of participatory theatre, something which would no doubt be close to Meghan’s heart after her years as an actress.

Meghan chatted with cast member 13-year-old Blessing, who told the Duchess she was passionate about inspiring others through storytelling, saying her first Public Arts experience allowed her to “discover more about what she could do and gain more confidence.”

The Duchess also saw a performance by primary school children, inspired by War Horse, created to mark the centenary of Armistice Day.

Earlier this month Meghan visited the animal charity Mayhew where she had a hilarious encounter with a well-meaning local resident. The Duchess is also patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and female employment cause Smart Works.

Meanwhile, her husband Prince Harry was attending the Commonwealth Youth Roundtable as an Ambassador, where he opened up about being a father-to-be.
