Duchess Kate and Prince William cheer on British sailors at America’s Cup event

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are avid sailing fans, so it was no surprise to see the royal pair front and centre at the America’s Cup World Series event at the Race Village in Portsmouth, England, yesterday.

Donning matching polos for the occasion, the couple looked comfortably casual at the event, where they mingled with teams competing in the race and met with youth involved in the 1851 Trust. Kate is a Royal Patron of the trust, which is supported by Ben Ainslie Racing (the British team competing in the America’s Cup) and aims to connect with young people through the sport of sailing.

Prince George, who recently turned three years old, was clearly at the forefront of his parents’ minds as they stepped out for the sailing event, with Prince George joking that his eldest child was “spoilt”.

“What did he get for his birthday? I’m not telling,” the royal joked.

“He got too many things. He’s far too spoilt. He’s not into boats yet.”

While Prince George may be more interested in land-based fun for now, Catherine has previously opened up about hoping her little ones would follow in her footsteps and catch the sailing bug, during her previous visit to the 1851 Trust headquarters in May.
