The annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace is the largest event the monarch holds each year. It’s also considered by many to be the most glamourous.
So it was touching that the Duchess of Cambridge chose to wear her late mother-in-law’s gorgeous tiara to the glittering event.
It was the fourth time that the Duchess has worn a tiara. She first wore one on her wedding day, then most recently at a state banquet for the Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping.
This time around, Kate chose to wear the gorgeous Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, in a special tribute to the late Princess Diana.

Kate arrived at the event alongside her husband Prince William in a chauffeur-driven Bentley, looking radiant in the tiara and an ice blue lace dress.
The dazzling crown, which was given to Diana as a wedding present from the Queen in 1981, features dozens of large pearls and diamonds.
It was originally made for Queen Mary in 1914, because she wanted something similar to a tiara owned by her grandmother Princess Augusta of Hesse, who married the first Duke of Cambridge in 1818.

This is not the first time Kate has worn Diana’s jewellery. She famously wears her mother-in-law’s sapphire engagement ring, and often the matching earrings.
