If anyone knows about heartbreak, it’s Sandra Bullock. Left devastated after her husband Jesse James cheated on her with multiple women, leading to their 2010 divorce, the star doesn’t want any of her friends to go through the same nightmare she did.
With that in mind, Sandra, 62, is warning her longtime friend and Practical Magic co-star Nicole Kidman to be careful as she embarks on a new relationship with Beverly Hills investor Michael Reinstein.
Although Michael, 54, and Jesse, 57, come from very different worlds, we’re told, “Sandra recognises the same type of swagger that she saw in Jesse.”
Sandra is particularly concerned about the fact Michael was named in a 2022 lawsuit brought by a former employee, who was himself accused of embezzlement and fraud.
Her loved ones aren’t convinced
This employee painted an unflattering picture of Michael’s management style, claiming he compared himself to cartoon villain the Joker and Star Wars baddie Emperor Palpatine when it came to talking about the power he held over others.
“For someone as high-profile and image-consciousas Nicole, it’s a lot of baggage to take on so soon after a long marriage,” a mutual friend tells Woman’s Day.
“It’s hard to imagine this will last very long at all, but Nicole can be stubborn and the more flaws that are pointed out to her, the more she’s digging her heels in.”
But it’s not only Sandra who’s worried about how quickly things are moving between Nicole, 59, and her new flame.
Ex-husband Keith Urban, 58, is “beside himself with worry, but he’s in no position to say anything”, the pal adds.
The girls are caught up in the romance
However, Nicole’s two daughters, Sunday, 18, and Faith, 16, are reportedly just happy their mum is smiling again after the tumultuous year since their parents announced their split in September 2025.
“It’s a strange new dynamic for the girls to be seeing their mum dating,” says our source.
“They’re happy to see her so happy, but they’re falling under Michael’s spell too. They have the same romanticised view of the world as their mum. This means all three of them are ignoring any potential problems with the relationship.”
Nicole and Michael – who has never married and has no kids – were first linked romantically last month, after being pictured together on a balcony at a hotel in Portofino, Italy. But our insider reveals the couple has actually known each other for months.
“Nicole and Michael first crossed paths at a pre-Oscars dinner in March, and started secretly seeing each other soon after,” we’re told.
“There’s no doubt this is a serious relationship because her inner circle has closed ranks and he’s had all his online presence removed by professionals.”
Why Nicole’s friends are worried
Despite the worries of her close friends, our source says, “She’s certainly having a tonne of fun with him. No one’s seen her smile like this in years. He’s incredibly charming and funny as hell – they already have a secret language between them. “It’s early days and they’re still in the honeymoon phase, but Nicole’s enjoying every moment of being wined and dined after the past few years with miserable, brooding Keith.”
Although Michael is making her smile for now, those closest to Nicole hope the romance will run its course naturally.
“No one had her dating someone like this on their bingo card for this year,” says our insider.
“Everyone’s hoping this is just a rebound.”
