He’s famous for driving around interviewing and singing with celebrities, but James Corden wasn’t always a big deal.
To celebrate the host of The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke’s 38th birthday, on Monday BBC Archive released a video of 16-year-old James as a rookie showbiz reporter starring in his very first television appearance.
In 1995 the young up-and-comer interviewed singer Meat Loaf as part of a young talent takeover of the former BBC1 morning show Good Morning with Anne and Nick.

In the footage, James can be seen having breakfast with Meat Loaf. He interviews him about promotion tours, his latest music video and his acting career.
Towards the end of the clip, Meat Loaf kindly offers James some career advice.
“The one thing you’ve gotta do, is that you need to always do the best you can do, no matter what the given situation, no matter what comes up against you. You do the best you can do and you never give up. Never quit.”
It looks like his words of wisdom paid off!
Since James joined The Late Late Show, the programme’s online popularity has skyrocketed and now has over 850,000 YouTube subscribers and over one million viewers.
