Reactions to Jacinda Ardern’s pregnancy

As the news travels, the public is reacting to the Prime Minister's big pregnancy announcement.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that she’ll be wearing two hats as of June, playing the role of Prime Minister and mother.

The news has taken the public by storm with positive reactions across social media.

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark has expressed her best wishes to Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford with a post to her Twitter.

“Wishing @jacindaardern & @NZClarke all the best as they expect their 1st child in June: a super busy year coming up & much to look forward to,” the Tweet read.

“Every #woman should have the choice of combining family & career.”

Broadcastor Nadine Higgins also took to her Twitter to congratulate Ardern and Clarke.

“Amazing news for @jacindaardern and @NZClarke but also incredible example for future generations that you can do things your way,” her Tweet read.

“(and tbh helpful other 30-somethings like me wondering how to balance career a family).”

Malcolm Turnbull has given his best wishes to Ardern and Clarke.

“Congratulations @jacindaardern on your wonderful news today. When we spoke this morning you sounded more excited than you did when you won the election!,” the Tweet read.

“Lots of love and best wishes from me and Lucy and all of us across the ditch.”

Jenny Shipley was another to wish her best to Jacinda and Clarke.

As the news spreads, Ardern and Clarke receive more and more Tweets.

Bill English has posted to his Twitter congratulating Ardern and Clarke.
