Mariah Carey has sent a pointed message to ex James Packer in the music video for her new single ‘I Don’t’, which features the iconic singer burning a wedding dress.
However, it’s now emerged that the gown from the music video was the actual Valentino dress Mariah had planned to wear for her wedding day – and the pricey garment comes in at a whopping $250,000.
Mariah was first seen being fitted for the stunning dress during an episode of her reality series Mariah’s World.
The singer even went back multiple times to ensure her wedding gown would be absolutely perfect for the big day – but alas, it wasn’t to be.
With lyrics including “I tried to make it work, no matter how much it hurt/You had to make it all about you” and “Thinkin’ somehow I could trust you/See, I used to love you/But I don’t, I don’t”, the song is definitely a breakup anthem.
In the video, Mariah is seen dramatically throwing the dress on to a fire pit before walking away as it burns up. That wasn’t the only dig she took at her former fiancé, however, as [TMZ] reports the music video was shot at the Calabasas mansion the couple used to call home.
In another episode of her reality show, Mariah revealed the song was based on the breakdown of her relationship with James.
“Ever since the tour wrapped I took some time just to process my feelings and I started writing a song to express what I’ve been going through. If you’re not getting the love that you need from someone that you’re supposed to be in a real relationship with, then why remain in that situation?”
Since splitting from James, Mariah has moved on with hunky dancer Bryan Tanaka.
