Following reports that Mariah Carey has split with her fiancé James Packer, the pop star’s representatives have broken their silence regarding the break up.
In a statement from Mariah’s “people” read out on Sunrise today, it was confirmed that her relationship with James is on the rocks after the couple had a fight in Greece.
“Mariah Carey and James Packer had a fight in Greece. They have not seen each other since,” the statement read.
“They are trying to work it out but right now they are not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it and plan to release a statement about their future.”
Following the news of the split, TMZ reported that Mariah had cheated on James with one of her dancers, and James was unhappy with her excessive spending.
The statement released today confirmed the fight was not caused by either of these allegations.
TMZ has claimed that Mariah had to leave James as he hasn’t “been present for her” for the past few months.
Their sources revealed that the final straw for Mariah was when her billionaire fiancé allegedly became violent last month on board in a yacht in Greece, and mistreated her assistant.
These claims follow reports that the casino mogul reportedly called it quits with Mariah Carey after falling out over her new reality TV show and extravagant spending.
The news comes as no great shock to friends and relatives of the Packer family who have had reservations about the relationship ever since James started wooing the flamboyant singer in Las Vegas last year.
The singer has since cancelled her upcoming tour dates in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
