The popular lifestyle blogger, who rose to fame here in New Zealand thanks to the blog Julia & Libby that she runs with her sister, welcomed her first child on New Year’s Eve.

Currently living in South Africa where her partner, footballer Mike Boxall is working, Libby gave birth at a private birthing clinic in the country.

Wanting a surprise, Libby refused to find out the gender of her baby before the birth, but was delighted to reveal she had a little baby girl, named Maxwell Milou Boxall.

“Introducing Maxwell Milou Boxall. Our angel was born on New Years Eve, weighing 8.12 pounds and measuring 52cm long. So in love with our chubby baby,” Libby wrote on Instagram, announcing the little one’s arrival.

Proud dad Mike was quick to sing his partner’s praises, calling Libby a “champ the whole last 9 months and a milli times more on New Year’ Eve”.

Over the course of her eight pregnancy columns for Women’s Weekly, Libby shared her tips on everything from morning sickness to exercising while pregnant.

She also shared her fears about giving birth in South Africa, so far away from her friends and family.

She told us: “Having a baby in another country can seem like a terrifying thing to do and this was not the easiest decision for me to make.”

But for Libby, being close to Mike during the last stages of her pregnancy was the best choice for the whole family.
