David Hasselhoff has been hanging out with Rhys Darby atop Auckland’s Sky Tower! The Baywatch icon and his Kiwi mate were spotted doing the Sky Walk together 192m above the City of Sails.
A production insider tells Woman’s Day The Hoff is here to film a new reality TV show, explaining, “David and Rhys worked together a few years ago on the movie Killing Hasselhoff, and they both jumped at the chance to work together again in an unscripted series.
“For David, it’s his first time playing himself in a real situation. We get to know the man on camera through his genuine experiences on the road across Aotearoa. He has next-level charisma, skill and magic that rubs off on everyone.”
This isn’t the Knight Rider actor’s first time in New Zealand – he was here for a few weeks in 1986 to record his second studio album, Lovin’ Feelings, at Auckland’s Mandrill Studios.
But this time, he isn’t just sticking to the big smoke – David’s also been seen in Milford Sound, Stewart Island, Queenstown and Invercargill, where he was tracked down by More FM Southland presenters Joe Cotton and Steve Broad. “We found The Hoff!” they posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, it sounds like the rest of us will have to wait to see him on screens in October, when the show is rumoured to premiere.
