Bobbi Kristina Brown has passed away at the age of 22, almost six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home earlier this year.
The daughter of the late Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina was discovered by her boyfriend Nick Gordon and rushed to hospital, where she was placed into a medically induced coma. In June, she was transferred to a hospice as her condition worsened, and today her family confirmed the sad news of her passing in a statement.
“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family,” the Houston family said.
“She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
Bobbi Kristina was particularly close to her mother Whitney, whose shocking death in 2012 eerily carries some similarities to her daughter’s today. On February 11, 2012, the iconic singer was discovered drowned in a bathtub at her Beverly Hilton hotel at the age of 48.
Bobbi Kristina was 18 years old when her mother passed away, and she became the sole heir to her estate.
In an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey shortly after Whitney’s death, Bobbi Kristina spoke about the impact of that traumatic event.
“It comes in waves. One minute I could be laughing and happy, but then it will come over me. It’s my mom. I start crying, but then I hear her again, saying, ‘Come on, keep moving,'” she said.
