She’s best known for her hard-hitting, dramatic roles, but Hollywood star Emily Blunt has been named as the new Mary Poppins.
Walt Disney Studios has announced the Sicario actress would be playing the super nanny role in an up-coming sequel to the 1964 classic film.
The film, called Mary Poppins Returns, will be set in Depression-era London, and focus on a now-adult Michael Banks and his three children as they cope with a tragedy – with a little help from Mary and new character Jack.

Emily Blunt will play Mary Poppins
The film, which is due for release on Christmas Day, 2018, will draw from Mary Poppins’s author, PL Travers’ seven additional novels.
Blunt, who like original star Julie Andrews is English, is currently pregnant with her second child. She and husband John Krasinski, are proud parents to daughter Hazel, two.
