Tom Cruise rejected

Following the tragic death of Heath Ledger in February 2008, his final film project ‘The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus’ remained incomplete. Apparently Tom Cruise put his hand up to complete Heath’s role but director Terry Gilliam wasn’t keen to give Tom the role as he hadn’t known Heath personally.

Terry said of Tom’s offer, “I’m not sure if it was Tom or his agent. I know there was a period when Tom’s agents were keen. The thing is, I was only interested in people who were friends of Heath. Simple as that. I wanted to keep it in the family.” Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell ended up taking over as different versions of Heath’s character Tony for the film, which will be released by the end of the year.
