Robbie’s ABBA alliance

Robbie Williams might be the first person to reunite ABBA since their split in 1983. The `Advertising Space’ singer has been in talks with former ABBA star Anni-Frid Lyngstad about the possibility of releasing several songs with the Swedish quartet. Robbie is said to be keen to re-record the group’s 1975 hit ‘Dancing Queen’ among others. Anni-Frid (60) is thrilled at the prospect of working with the ‘Let oe Entertain You’ singer and is waiting for him to finalise their plans. She says, “Robbie and I talked about doing an ABBA hit together. He has not yet come back on that one.” ABBA – which was made up of two married couples, Anni-Frid and her husband Benny Andersson, and Bjorn Ulvaeus and his wife Agnetha Faltskog – have refused many offers to reunite since splitting. A source gushes, “Maybe Robbie could be the one to get them together again. It would be a sensational coup.” [6 November 2006]
