Fashion Police star Giuliana Rancic has opened up about her battle with breast cancer and her fertility struggles. The 37-year-old, who had a lumpectomy before undergoing a double mastectomy after her breast cancer diagnosis – which came at the beginning of her third cycle of IVF, says she reached her darkest day before receiving the good news she was able to have a child via a surrogate.
“I was at the lowest – I’d just been diagnosed with breast cancer, I’d been trying to have a baby for four years and I think sometimes you have to get to your darkest point in life and then the brightest light just appears and that’s when the good news come,” Giuliana told the Lorraine show. The E! News presenter and her husband, The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic, are expecting a baby boy via gestational surrogate in September. Giuliana hopes that by talking about her ordeal she will help others.
“Why don’t we share these stories because they can help people? Just when you think it’s never going to happen, it happens.”
Giuliana is currently in London covering the Olympic Games and says she is “standby” in case the surrogate mother gives birth while she is there.
