Making his directorial debut at the age of 75, the hearfelt comedy Quartet has you wondering what took Dustin Hoffman so long. The film, about a retirement home for musically inclined elderly people, has the most stellar of stellar casts, including Michael Gambon, Billy Connolly and Dame Maggie Smith. These acting greats make Dustin’s work easy – so much so that some of the dialogue is improvised. Though it will suffer from Best Exotic Marigold Hotel comparisons, this is a witty film that’s great in its own right.

Rating:4/5
