They are a very fashionable pair on the red carpet but even the Prime Minister and her partner are partial to novelty Christmas jumpers.
On TVNZ’s Breakfast programme on Friday morning, Jacinda Ardern whipped out Clarke Gayford’s festive, woollen Christmas jumper.
She revealed that even though they are not very practical in New Zealand summer weather, Clarke is not deterred.
“He sweats it out in Gisborne in the Gizzy sun because he’s always so desperate to wear the Christmas jumper,” she told the programme.
Breakfast host’s Hilary Barry called the reindeer-adorned jumper “awful” but the PM said she “loves novelty Christmas jumpers”.
Co-host Jack Tame was delighted to have an ally in the PM, as he defended wearing his own tacky jersey for the holidays.
Earlier this week, the PM also shared that Clarke’s niece helped her with her Christmas card to The Queen.
