A British toy company called Makies has gone viral on social media after debuting a new line of dolls celebrating different disabilities.
Makies specialises in custom doll designs using 3D printing technology. However, this is the first time they’ve expanded their range to include dolls with disabilities.
The new line of dolls feature birthmarks, hearing aids and walking aids. The toys were created in response to the Toy Like Me campaign, which calls for “better disability representation in the toy box”.
“It’s fantastic that our supercharged design and manufacturing process means we can respond to a need that’s not met by traditional toy companies. We’re hoping to make some kids – and their parents! – really happy with these inclusive accessories,” MakieLab CTO Matthew Wiggins said in a statement.

Makies has now been flooded with requests for more of the dolls, tweeting that the most popular requests were for facial birthmarks, cochlea implants and leg braces.
The company also called on other toy manufacturers including Mattel, Hasbro and MGA to follow in their footsteps with the ‘Toy Like Me’ campaign.
