Just three weeks before his fiancée was due to give birth, Cagney was informed he had an aggressive form of brain cancer, and was admitted to the ICU.

But when his wife Jessica Li went into labour, the 26-year-old was still in intensive care and feared he would miss the birth of his child.

Thankfully, quick-thinking hospital staff at Boulder Community Hospital in the U.S., arranged for Cagney (complete with all his medical equipment) to be moved next to his wife so he could witness the birth of his son.

Emotional pictures have captured the moment Cagney first meets his son Levon on September 18, even cutting his son’s umbilical cord.

Cagney shared the news on his Facebook page, writing that “I feel so happy cancer ain’t got nothing on me.”

Photographer Sarah Broccolucci said that the atmosphere in the room was “serene and joyful.”

“The room was filled with love and support,” she added.
