A father in the US has got a unique piece of body art on his head – all to make his young son feel better about himself.

Gabriel Marshall had to have major surgery to remove a malignant brain tumour – leaving him with a large, C-shaped scar above his ear.

And his poor father Josh was forced to hear his child refer to himself as a ‘monster’ after the surgery, something that understandably broke his heart.

Having already shaved his head in solidarity, Josh decided to get a tattoo in the same place on his head as his son’s scar.

He told Buzzfeed: “I told him if people wanted to stare, they could stare at both of us.”

Josh also won St Baldrick’s Best Bald Dads competition, which honours fathers who have shaved their heads to help their children feel better.

Humble as ever, Josh said: “The truth is I’m no better than any of the other contestants.”

“We are all great fathers that would go to any extent to help out children so in my eyes we’re all winners!”
