Time to say ‘goodbye’ to 3News & Carolyn Robinson

The 6pm bulletin as we know it is no more.

MediaWorks announced today that 3News is ending. The 6pm bulletin will become Newshub Live as of February 1.

Hilary Barry and Mike McRoberts will remain as the anchors on the rebranded service at 6pm.

Midday news will be presented by Jeff McTainsh, and Samantha Hayes will present the later current affairs slot. Melissa Davies and Tom McRae will anchor in the weekends.

“Smart move by TV3. Audience wants information, analysis, engagement, entertainment and connectivity. Current 6pm format is tired and dying,” Newstalk ZB host Rachel Smalley tweeted.

The news comes after veteran TV3 presenter Carolyn Robinson announced her departure this morning, having served the company for more than 15 years.

Mediaworks said the news anchor and mother to three is looking forward to “having her weekends back and spending them with family”.
