Kiwis curious about ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

One of the most talked-about movies of this year, Fifty Shades of Grey, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD from June 10, 2015 – and more than a few Kiwis are getting curious about it!

According to research conducted by Universal Pictures New Zealand, more than two-thirds (68%)of Kiwis are curious to watch Fifty Shades*, and one in five said they’d been holding out to watch the movie until it was available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.

What’s more, one in ten Kiwis said they were curious to learn about the BDSM themes of the movie, and one in ten said they planned to watch it in the bedroom.

Perhaps surprisingly, both women (36%) and men (35%) are equally interested in watching Fifty Shades at home.

“Fifty Shades of Grey is a global phenomenon and the research shows that New Zealanders are keen to get amongst it – whether it’s die-hard fans of the books, inquisitive couples, or just plain and simple curiosity, Kiwis want to be in the know,” said Universal Pictures New Zealand Managing Director Michael Coley.

-29% of single Kiwis say they will watch it with friends, and one-third plan to watch alone

Fifty Shades of Grey is released on Blu-ray and DVD in New Zealand from June 10, 2015.
