Is this the secret to keeping a cut avocado green?

It's a simple trick - and you probably have the ingredient in you kitchen already.

You’ve already mastered how to pick a ripe avocado, but what’s the trick to keeping the flesh green after you cut it?

Once it has been exposed to the air, avocados quickly turn a mushy brown colour – but there is a way to stop that happening.

Lifestyle website PureWow have shared their clever tip for keeping avo – and guacamole – green for up to 24 hours after you cut it open, and it requires just one, simple ingredient: cooking spray.

Next time you have some leftover avocado, spray it lightly with cooking spray – Olive oil, coconut oil or vegetable oil will work – then cover with plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge.

It means it should stay fresh for 24 hours.
