A few of our hydrangea have flowered and are a lovely blue, but did you know you can change a pink one to blue?
I have a lilac one by my front door which I am going to try this on.
Instructions:
Dissolve 1 tbsp alum (potassium aluminium sulphate) in 3.5L water.
Water into the soil of your plant while its buds are just forming.
To keep pink hydrangeas pink or turn blue ones pink – add garden lime to their soil.
By the way, you can’t change the colour of a white hydrangea so enjoy it for what it is!
Bonus trick: A fun kid’s version of this is to colour cut flowers by putting food colouring in their water. This also works with celery!
