Shopping for your age

I’m nearly 44 years old and think my wardrobe is quite young-looking because I often go shopping with my daughters. Which shops should I try for my age group? I prefer classic styles.

First, try to assess the situation objectively. Most women (aged 30+) these days do dress in more youthful ways than say, 15 years ago. But you don’t want to look like mutton dressed as lamb – the key is to ensure whatever you’re wearing is flattering and stylish.

Do some research – subtly check out what other women your age are wearing in your workplace and on the street. Your preference for classic styles rather than catwalk trends will help keep you in check with your age group.

Shops you could try include Max, Jacqui E, Ezibuy, Cue, Veronika Maine or Annah S. Leave Supre, Dotti, Glassons, Jay Jays, Jeans West and the like for the younger crowd.

Finally, perhaps you could take a friend shopping instead of your daughters. You may find yourselves gravitating naturally to shops that cater for your age group. Your friend will also be on hand to give honest opinions. Have fun!
