Ginger is a well-known nausea remedy. A review from the Cochrane Collaboration concluded that evidence for its use in pregnancy nausea and vomiting is “encouraging”.Ginger may also relieve nausea after an operation or chemotherapy. Try chewing fresh ginger or taking a ginger capsule to escape the worst of a migraine.

Researchers at Odense University in Denmark found that ginger blocks the actions of prostaglandins, the chemicals produced during a migraine attack that cause symptoms. Meanwhile, US scientists found ginger offered asthma patients additional relief from symptoms, including coughing, wheezing and tightness in the chest, when taken with medicines that relax the airways.
