The next act for Marilynn McLachlan

The NZ Woman’s Weekly editor has entered a new era of life with a different mindset

Recently, New Zealand Woman’s Weekly editor Marilynn McLachlan reflected on the early lessons and busy years that shaped her relationship with beauty. It wasn’t until she approached 50 that something began to shift.

“I realised, for the first time in decades, it was my time to consider not what I was to everyone else, but who I wanted to become,” she says. “Ageing is a privilege. I decided to make looking after myself a priority.”

Marilynn took up reformer Pilates, watched her step count and journalled every day. She also changed her beauty routine to one that still gives her confidence each morning. Hydration is at the top of her must-do list.

“I really notice if I don’t look after my skin now,” Marilynn says. “I try to keep things simple. I cleanse and moisturise each night, and in the morning, I’ll wash my face with water and pop on my moisturiser. Hyaluronic acid has been a game-changer.”

Her commitment to hydration is what draws her to products that blur the line between skincare and makeup, like L’Oréal Paris New True Match Hyaluron Tinted Balm Foundation. With an 80 percent skincare base, enriched with hyaluron and a nourishing oil blend, the finish reflects the coverage Marilynn wants – radiant, buildable and comfortable, making for an on-the-go product that still feels effortless.
