Tackling cellulite
We’ve seen more than a few “miracle” treatments for cellulite over the years, but they’ve quickly disappeared, while dimpled thighs and buttocks have not!
Around 90% of women report having cellulite. It’s the result of deposits of fat in the connective tissues of the skin’s layers and is caused by hormones, genetics and ageing – the skin gets thinner and more fragile, so cellulite looks worse as a result.
While its appearance can be reduced over time, sadly there’s no magic bullet. Instead it comes down to that same dull old advice to exercise regularly, eat healthily, drink plenty of water and limit the toxins you expose yourself to.
oassage with treatments that boost circulation and improve skin tone can help as part of that regime.
Eat the good stuff
Make sure you eat loads of antioxidant-rich superfoods, such as berries, oily fish, nuts and seeds. Limit the amount of tea, coffee, alcohol, fizzy drinks and junk food you consume.
Sip on hot ginger tea
This is my favourite circulation booster. I make it with a teaspoon of grated fresh ginger root, plus a little clover honey, and perhaps a squirt of lemon
Try Dry body brushing
Sweep a natural bristle brush lightly over the skin in long, brisk movements, paying extra attention to cellulite-prone areas.
Brush towards the heart for two to five minutes. Get into the habit of doing this just before a shower. If your skin starts looking red or irritated, then you’re brushing too hard.
