The Block NZ: Living room reveal

Take a tour of the team's finished living rooms.

The Block NZ is officially half way through it’s heavy schedule of renovations.

Week six was full of living rooms, dinner wars (and some secret alliances). After completing their kitchen and dining last week, the teams were given a brief to finish their open plan living room with two on trend textures and a customised feature.

The judges thought Andy and Nate’s living room looked more like a commercial space and than a residential one.

Andy and Nate colour matched their heater in the lounge to the wall.

Andy and Nate’s commissioned a mural by renowned street artists BMD.

Julia and Ali’s living room.

The judges said velvet was a good on trend texture but thought the cowhide as their second texture was not so original.

The mixed metals in the shelving and console worked well with the wood and glass textures.

The judges thought Julia and Ali’s living room was all a bit too beige and was screaming out for some depth.

The overall look was luxurious and coordinated.

The judges liked Julia and Ali’s use of art.

Ling and Zing finally won the room reveal challenge with their living room.

The living area was engaging with the kitchen and dining.

The layout of the furniture created a harmonious space.

The judges thought the shelf feature was “a bit of a cop out”.

The judges thought their styling efforts had grown and it was evident they were thinking about accessorising.

Stace and Yanita received the lowest score for their living room.

The judges liked their choice of furniture but hated the layout.

They thought the living room was awkward and didn’t work.

Jason hated the black velvet wall feature.

Stace and Yanita’s altered their flooring plan at the beginning of the season, which left them with no storage upstairs. They improvised by adding a storage cupboard to the living room but the judges thought it could have been better used as a desk/computer space.

The judges thought Stace and Yanita should have experimented with the furniture before settling on the layout.
