Netflix has confirmed a second season of the small-screen blockbuster with the first new video teaser.
The hugely popular Netflix series will be returning in 2017 with nine brand new episodes.
The sci-fi thriller miniseries is set in the early 80’s in Hawkins, Indiana, and is centred around the disappearance of 12-year-old Will, his mother (Winona Ryder) school friends and a young girl with mysterious supernatural powers.
The second season will pick up where the first season left off, in the fall of 1984.
It will include the addition of four new characters, who will join the original cast.
“We talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade,” said co-creator Ross Duffer.
“That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here (in the 1980s), there’s still things that are unresolved.”
The end of the last episode of season one was left open ended, for a reason.
“We wanted it to feel like a big movie, so we wanted to resolve that main tension of where Will went and what happened to him,” said Matt Duffer, co-creator.
The question on everyone’s lips is whether or not supernatural Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) will return, but the creators of the show have reported that it is still “up in the air”.
The episode titles however have been confirmed:
Madmax
The Boy Who Came Back to Life
The Pumpkin Patch
The Palace
The Storm
The Pollywog
The Secret Cabin
The Brain
The Lost Brother
