It’s the fourth day of living together for the couples on Married at First Sight NZ and it’s clear to see which couples are in it for the long run and which aren’t, especially after a shocking break-up.
The start of the episode gives us a little sneak peek into day-to-day living for the couples. Bel tells Haydn that he needs to buy himself some toothpaste and Andrew tells Vicky that they need a bigger recycling bin. Welcome to married life!
While the other couples have begun living together, Dom and Claire have had quite the set back after Claire fell ill.
Let’s just say sparks aren’t entirely flying upon her arrival back to the apartment.
Claire notices that Dom has left things left on the bench.
“I walked in today and the first thing I noticed was the bench is just covered in stuff. I mean I don’t mind having stuff on the bench, but, not everything,” she says.
“I’m feeling anxious, because we’ve been apart almost as long as we’ve been married,” says a nervous Dom.
“It just feels like we’re starting again.”
As per usual, Angel and Brett are as happy as ever, smiling and laughing and enjoying their new living arrangement. Seriously, we love these two.
The happy pair give cheers to two weeks of marriage.
“Honestly it feels like we’ve known each other for at least a year,” says Angel.
“We still have the same connection almost as we got married.”
We couldn’t help but laugh when Brett let Angel know that her, “boobs were falling out” while eating dinner. That’s the kind of guy you need!
When the two were asked about intimacy they both got giggly.
“Intimacy side of things, I’ll let you ask my wife about that… from my side everything is going sweet,” Brett says through laughter.
Meanwhile, Andrew is starting to feel left out of Vicky’s life.
“I wanna do things with you, and I’m not getting much of an opportunity,” he says.
But Vicky doesn’t see an issue.
“When we’re in each other’s faces too much things start to go down hill fast,” she says.
“It’d be nice if I could get to know my wife a little better,” Andrew complains.
Vicky starts to get frustrated.
“He’s like the woman in the relationship, like getting annoyed at nothing,” she says.
Ben and Aaron discuss their future plans and Ben makes it clear that he isn’t willing to move to Christchurch for Aaron.
“I would probably rather swallow razor blades than live anywhere else in New Zealand at this point,” Ben says.
Aaron says he’s open to moving up to Auckland to be with Ben.
Dom is in trouble after accidentally sending a text to Claire and not his friend.
The text message was explaining how annoying relationships can be and was intended as a “cathartic release.”
“I don’t want Claire to see that,” Dom says.
“I’m absolutely mortified.”
Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, it does.
During a counselling session, Claire declares her and Dom have split up.
“We’re not each other’s type physically, everything,” she says.
“I’m packed, ready to go that’s it, I’m out of here.”
The two both agree that the decision has been mutual, although Dom had hoped it would last longer.
We must admit we’re pretty sad to see the pair split!
Haydn and Bel have also had a blow out, and Bel is visited by Aaron and Ben to discuss.
“So Haydn has left,” Bel says.
“We have arguments which is normal, but this got too escalated, he ends up saying things that are really really hurtful.”
Bel explains that Haydn has left with his things and gone home, but once he calms down he’ll come right back.
“Do I stay and hope he calms down? He needs to meet me on my level as well,” she says.
Things start to look up for the couples.
Vicky and Andrew and Aaron and Ben are gifted a surprise date in order to allow their relationship to grow.
Aaron takes Ben canyoning, he believes it’s a chance for Ben to get out of his comfort zone.
Next is Vicky and Andrew’s date and like she mentioned in an earlier episode, Vicky finally makes Andrew get a hair cut.
“I’m not really enjoying the date so far. It’s not really a date, it’s more, go for a hair cut,” Andrew says.
Andrew isn’t happy with his new do at all and says he wanted to grow it.
“This isn’t a compromise,” Andrew says.
“I feel like half a man.”
Vicky isn’t impressed.
“I was surprised and I was like, how old are you?” she says.
“I’m pretty f***** off,” Andrew says as he walks away from Vicky. Uh oh.
Although there’s drama, Brett and Angel are still going strong and Angel gives Brett a present; new socks! How sweet.
Did we mention they have coordinating hats too? Yes, it gets cuter.
Aaron is upset after Ben doesn’t return home from a night out in town.
“I feel like he’s going to walk in the door any minute and I’m going to flip out,” Aaron says.
“I have four weeks to decide if I’m going to leave my entire life behind and move up here for him, and right now that’s not going to happen.”
The pair begin to argue and Ben believes he hasn’t done anything wrong.
“This whole two weeks I feel like I’m putting in so much effort and I’m getting nothing in return,” Aaron says.
“I find the way he is emotionally a problem,” says Ben.
0Ben then begins to pack up his things and says he’s going home.
Things continue to escalate with Ben and Aaron.
“Was there any f*** thought of, oh, do you maybe want to come with me? there’s just zero thought for me whatsoever,” says Aaron.
“Last night was my night, why would I invite you out?” Ben replies.
“You know I’m a social person.”
The fight goes back and forth, Ben saying Aaron needs to adapt to his life and Aaron saying Ben needs to adapt to his life.
“He thinks my issue is that he didn’t come home, which it’s not, we don’t have to be in the same bed and in the same apartment every day together, but, my issue is the communication around that,” Aaron says.
1“I have four weeks to decide if I’m going to drop my entire f** life for you,” Aaron says through tears to Ben.
The fight ends with Aaron leaving the apartment crying. Not a good sign.
“If that’s how it’s going to be in the end, there’s no way in hell i’ll uplift my life for that,” Aaron says.
A lot of drama once again on Married at First Sight.
Will the remaining couples go the distance?
