She was the influencer with too much influence. Ultimately, that’s what led to Brittany Cunningham being eliminated from The Traitors NZ.
The Auckland mum-of-three, 32, was a target from day one, with funeral director Whitney Greene declaring a personal war.
Brittany says, “The vendetta she had against me left me shocked and horrified. She had it out for me and the only conclusion I could draw was that she must be a Traitor.”
Many Traitors players looked to Brittany for her rational guidance and she formed strong connections with many of her fellow Faithfuls.
“When I was in the manor, I found it very easy to build genuine relationships. Everyone was so nice,” she tells. “But then I had to remember that some of them were lying to me!
“The round table is an especially intimidating place. I didn’t want to gang up on people and send them home, but that’s the game. It was significantly more challenging than I anticipated. I went into it thinking that I understood the game, but it was all-consuming and any strategy I had planned quickly fell away.”

However, the toughest challenge was being apart from her husband Mark and their three kids, boys Greyson, 12, and Malachi, nine, plus five-year-old daughter Olive.
“Greyson had his birthday while I was in the house and that was a very emotional day,” she recalls. “Not being able to call him up and say ‘happy birthday’ was heartbreaking.”
Adding to the drama, Brittany’s fellow contestants labelled her the “most arrogant” player on the show that same day.
She says, “Even though I was upset, I managed to gain trust in the group and even find a Traitor that day! I’m glad I got Whitney before she got me. But just as I felt like I was getting the hang of the game, someone murdered me!”
Indeed, after Brittany led the charge against her nemesis, the surviving Traitors saw Brittany as too much of a threat and sent her packing.
“It was devastating,” she confesses. “The whole experience was like a fever dream, but I absolutely loved it. It was very much outside my comfort zone, but that’s where personal growth happens I had to push my limits to see what I was capable of.”

Brittany entered the world of social media at a difficult time in her life. She reveals, “Postpartum anxiety and depression impacted me pretty badly. I was searching for ways to find the joy in my life again.”
She started filming her daily routine to help her appreciate the good moments and laugh in the face of the bad ones, then started posting videos about her love of cleaning on TikTok and Instagram, where she was embraced by followers of the #CleanTok trend.
“It’s so random. I didn’t know #CleanTok existed until I posted my first video,” laughs Brittany. Her content has since evolved to cover the renovation of her West Auckland home. “My audience has watched me through a few life stages. They’ve seen my struggle to sell a house in a declining market. Now, after nine long months, we’ve finally managed to secure this gorgeous mid-century gem. It’s beautiful and has lots of potential, but it’s the worst house on the best street.”
Brittany and Mark, who will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary this year, met at her uncle’s wedding.
She tells, “Mark was the wedding singer and I thought he was cute. After several glasses of Champagne, I plucked up the courage to go sing Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley with him and the rest is history!”

Mark is a chiropractor by trade but recently sold his business. Brittany now jokingly describes his as “my kept man”. She calls her kids “my little broke besties” and says that “being a mum healed something inside me”.
The content creator explains, “I’ve struggled with my mental health on and off since I was a teenager. I got pretty bad a few years ago. Being a mum, especially to a girl, fulfilled a part of my childhood.”
Meanwhile, since becoming a star on social media, Brittany admits she’s had several Hollywood A-listers get in touch. “One day, I checked my request folder and Miranda Kerr had slid into my DMs,” she marvels. “The profile had 14.5 million followers, but I messaged to ask how I could be sure it was actually her – and she replied with a selfie!
“So we’ve been in contact and she’s going to send me some PR work, but I still haven’t told her I had a poster of her ex-husband Orlando Bloom on my wall as a teenager!”
The Traitors New Zealand screens 7pm Mondays and Tuesdays on Three, and streams on ThreeNow.
