Prince William’s choice of words during a documentary special that aired on Monday has left fans up in arms, with some defending his slip of the tongue and others shocked at his casual language.
During his interview with veteran presenting duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the usually mild-mannered royal let slip the word “bollocking” while reminiscing about his school years at Eton.
William was referring to how he and his brother, Prince Harry, received handwritten letters from their father, whose writing style is known to be notoriously difficult to decipher. William said he and Harry would have to read the letters very carefully, “Just in case it was a bollocking we didn’t know about”.
The mishap created a significant amount of controversy on Twitter, with users debating back and forth about whether or not the royal was justified in using that word on TV.

Ironically enough, in the documentary William also revealed he actually preferred when things didn’t go 100% according to plan during royal engagements.
“Everywhere we go, everything is sort of rehearsed so much, that it’s always bang on correct, perfect,” he told Ant and Dec.
“But we all, no more so than our grandfather, love it when things go wrong,” he said, adding that it made the occasion more memorable.
We’re betting he might not be feeling quite so cavalier about this particular gaffe!
