The Duchess’ lawyer, Aurelien Hammelle, appeared at a court in Nanterre, Paris where he opened the case with a strong attack on Closer, saying Kate is a “young woman, not an object”.

The couple have been looking relaxed during their tour, despite the pressure they have been under

St James’s Palace are suing over “grotesque” breach of privacy after pictures were taken of Kate and William relaxing on holiday at a friend’s home in Provence, France. The couple are seeking to prevent the publication of further copies of the magazine containing the photographs – and a decision will shortly be made by a French judge. Meanwhile Italian magazine Chi has also defied the palace, publishing an issue that hit the newsstands today containing 18 photos of Kate.
