Although The Theory of Everything is the first time they’ve worked together on-screen, Oscar-nominated stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones got to know each other years before through the audition process.
“Eddie and I have spent many years auditioning for film and TV projects together, and being turned down together,” Felicity revealed to Yahoo.
“And then commiserating together. But this was the first time we’d worked together.”
The two have been getting rave reviews for their performances as Stephen Hawking and his first wife Jane, racking up plenty of nominations (and for Eddie, several wins) this awards season.
While it might be hard following up such an acclaimed role, Eddie says he tries “not to think of [his] jobs as competitive with each other”.
“If our dream is to create interesting stories and play interesting people, they don’t come more extraordinary than Stephen and Jane,” he gushed, adding that he feels “really lucky” to have told their story.
And with plenty more projects on the way for both Eddie and Felicity, it seems they won’t have any trouble lining up more jobs in the future!
