Julianne and Eddie look to be the front-runners for the Oscars after this year's BAFTA awards

Julianne took home the BAFTA Leading Actress award for her raved-about performance in Still Alice, while Eddie continued his awards season sweep with the BAFTA Leading Actor award for The Theory of Everything.

The two seem to be the clear favourites for the upcoming Academy Awards, with each winning the Golden Globe and SAG awards for their respective categories – but who knows what could happen on Oscar night!

Other big winners at the 2015 BAFTAs included Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, which scooped up five awards in total including best original screenplay, costume design and makeup.

Meanwhile, Boyhood took home Best Film while The Theory of Everything was named Outstanding British Film. The biggest snub of the night came in the form of The Imitation Game, which didn’t pick up any awards despite a whopping nine nominations.

Other winners included:

Supporting Actress – Patricia Arquette, Boyhood

Supporting Actor – J.K. Simmons, Whiplash

EE Rising Star – Jack O’Connell

Adapted Screenplay – The Theory of Everything

Original Screenplay – The Grand Budapest Hotel

Cinematography – Birdman
