Daryl Hannah has come out swinging against the new Disney+ series Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr & Carolyn Bessette, refuting its depiction of her and the time she dated the late Kennedy heir.
The Splash actress – whose on-off five-year romance with the famous ladies’ man features in the Ryan Murphy TV series – wrote in a scathing essay, “The character ‘Daryl Hannah’ portrayed in the series is not even a remotely accurate representation of my life, my conduct or my relationship with John. The actions and behaviours attributed to me are untrue.”

The Kill Bill star, 65, especially took issue with the suggestions of substance abuse, writing, “I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fuelled parties. I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I also have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial. I have never planted any story in the press. I never compared Jacqueline Onassis’ death to a dog’s.”
Daryl went on to claim she’s become the target of threats due to the show, which does begin with a disclaimer at the start of each episode that it’s “inspired by actual events but includes fictional elements”.
Actress warns of real-life consequences
She explains, “When so many people watch a dramatisation that uses a real name, real-life consequences follow. In the weeks since the series aired, I have received many hostile and even threatening messages from viewers who seem to believe that the portrayal is factual. When entertainment borrows a real person’s name, it can permanently impact her reputation.”
Fellow actress Jamie Lee Curtis, 67, who previously starred in the Ryan Murphy series Scream Queens, appears to back Daryl’s complaints, sharing screenshots of Daryl’s comments on Instagram with the caption, “Important.”
Brooke Shields shares memories of JFK Jr
Meanwhile, another of JFK Jr’s famous exes has broken her silence about her relationship with the US businessman, who died in a plane crash with his wife Carolyn in July 1999. Brooke Shields revealed JFK Jr was “one of the best” kissers in a recent TikTok video. The actress, 60, and the late star had a brief relationship in the ’80s after meeting on a ski trip in Aspen.
Brooke recalls, “I was 19 or 20, but I was still a virgin, so literally, I was like, ‘You so do not want me to lose my virginity to you because in my world that means we’re married, so do yourself a favour, back off.’ It was a sweet, honest conversation.”
Other exes have yet to speak out
JFK Jr’s other famous exes – Sarah Jessica Parker, 60, and Madonna, 67 – are yet to comment publicly on the new series, but the stars have previously opened up about their romances with the charismatic Kennedy.
“We would go places where there wasn’t a soul around and the next day, I’d see pictures of us there in the tabloids,” the Sex And The City actress has revealed of dating JFK Jr for six months back
in 1991. “He’s a nice man, but for God’s sake, I feel like I should apologise for dating him. It has become the defining factor in the person I am.”
Before SJP, JFK enjoyed a brief fling with Vogue singer Madonna in the late ’80s, while she was separated from Sean Penn, and the pair remained friends until his death.
