She’s used to getting no kisses, but last night eliminated bachelorette Kate Cameron got no rose – an inevitable outcome, she says, couldn’t have come soon enough.
“I knew I was on the firing line – I was in the top five and I still hadn’t kissed him, it was all getting a bit ridiculous,” says Woman’s Day’s advertising guru. “There was no spark or chemistry and you need that in a relationship. We both knew what was going on, and I kept thinking, ‘Can he end it already?’”
What had gone wrong is what fans of The Bachelor New Zealand had long predicted – Kate and Jordan were in the friend zone.
“I friend-zoned him first and then he friend-zoned me back – he was like, ‘haha, sucker, I got you back.’
“At the end of the day, we definitely appreciated each other’s company, but we just weren’t right for each other. Jordan’s a lovely guy, and I wish him all the best but I’m not sad I didn’t get to take him home to meet the parents – that’s a massive decision for me.”
As for Naz at last night’s cocktail party, Kate says she found the former mean girl’s emotional breakdown out of character.
“It was a bit unexpected,” recalls Kate of Naz’s request to hold hands. “She’s said some things about me in the past that I’m not happy about, to want my support suddenly was a bit surprising. But if someone’s crying I’m always going to check in and help them. Plus, it would have been a bit awkward if I declined – I think she would’ve cried more.”
