Former Shortland Street star Shavaughn Ruakere is heading to the bright lights of Hollywood as the entertainment correspondent for TV1’s Seven Sharp.

“I’m really pleased to be joining the Seven Sharp team as an Entertainment correspondent,” she said.

“I’m a showbiz news junkie so what better place to be reporting from than the heart of Hollywood.”

The former What Now presenter announced in June that she was crossing the ditch in pursuit of new acting roles in Los Angeles with her boyfriend Toby Burrows, a co-founder of festival Rhythm and Vines.

“We are making a more permanent move to LA together,” Ruakere told Spy. “We are both excited about pursuing new opportunities.”

The actress will reportedly be on TVNZ by the end of September, crossing live from Hollywood.

She will be joining hosts Toni Street and Mike Hosking.

Other Kiwi talent who have jetted off to LA include Shavaughn’s close friends and fellow Kiwi actresses Kim Crossman and Fleur Saville.
