Rita Ora was unable to hold back tears while in court on Wednesday as she described the terrifying moment burglars entered her home in November 2015.

The singer explained she was woken by her sister, Elena who spotted someone in the London home the sisters share.

Belongings worth an estimated £200,000 (approx. $400,000 NZ) were reported to have been stolen from the home.

Harrow Crown Court in London heard the 999 call made to police by the X Factor judge.

On the call the singer tells the operator: ‘I have just locked myself in my room, my sister saw him in her room.

“Can you just send them right now? How long are you going to be?

“What do I do, what do I do. Oh my God.”

The star was clearly shaken during the incident and at one point in the call could be heard shouting out to the intruders.

“Don’t you f—— come up these stairs. I will f— you up, you f—— hear me.”

Rita gave evidence to a jury from behind a curtain and became emotional after the recording was played in court

The star told the court: “That phone call freaked me out a bit – give me a moment.”

Charaf Elmoudden, 26, of Muswell Hill, north London denies a charge of burglary.

The trial continues.

The star was spotted in New York earlier in the week.
