Rachel Hunter: It’s anybody’s game

The model and judge reflects on the Top Model competition so far.
Rachel Hunter on New Zealand's Next Top Model

It’s really coming down to the wire as we head into the live finale of New Zealand’s Next Top Model next week.

The girls are going to be really stressed right now and I think this is where we’ll start to see them crumple and cry from being under so much pressure.

I’m really excited though, because it’s anybody’s game and honestly I don’t know who should win. There’s been nobody who has stood out for me as a clear winner. I would have liked to have seen a little more X-factor by now – last year Danielle shone through early on. Brigette or Rosanagh could have that edge if they applied themselves.

This year it’s going to come down to which girl blossoms in a live situation.

Though she’s been improving, I’d like to see more personality from Brigette. At the same time, I kind of like that quiet side of her – it can be a nice presence on set. It’s probably hard for people to believe, but when I first started I was like Brigette for a while.

I used to sit back quietly and take everything in at the start of each shoot, rather than act up.

Bianca has also been strong throughout the competition, and Brigette has been really high fashion and has done some gorgeous shoots. Rosanagh is also extremely beautiful and has a great body for modelling. I’m still disappointed about her behaviour around the taxi driver a few episodes back – you can’t be precious in modelling.

Hard work and manners were issues again this week. I don’t like to see models be unprofessional – it gives the industry a bad name.

Going into the final, the girls need to have learned from their mistakes, focus on getting the job done and remember this is a truly amazing opportunity. At this point it’s anyone’s chance to shine.
