New Zealand radio legends Polly Gillespie and Grant Kereama have announced their return to the airwaves.
The once-married duo – who became household names as co-hosts on ZM for over two decades and more recently The Hits – exited NZME earlier this year.
But as of July, they’re back. And they couldn’t be happier about it.
The Rova All Day Breakfast with Polly & Grant will be available in Wellington central on 106.7FM and on the new free digital entertainment app, Rova, from Monday, July 3.
The new morning show will premiere from 6am weekdays and then be available, for the rest of the day – similar to on-demand television.
In addition to Rova, Polly and Grant are also joining MoreFM from July 1, hosting a Saturday morning breakfast show from 6-10am in Auckland, Wellington, Waikato, Tauranga, Rotorua, Hawkes Bay, Whanganui, Kapiti and Marlborough.
After a tumultuous year, Woman’s Day columnist Polly says that her friendship with Grant is great and they can’t wait to get back on air.
“You dream of being able to do the ultimate radio show. The one where you can do what you want, play what you want to play, love the music, get completely creative. It seemed like an impossible crazy dream, but it’s happening and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it!”
Wellington-based Polly and Grant separated in 2015 after 26 years of marriage and have both moved on with new partners. But they are bonded by their history and family. They have two sons Tom, 24, and McGregor, 19, and a daughter Katherine, 23, who is expecting a baby girl in August – their first grandchild.
But Polly and Grant are also united by the fact they love to work in radio together and they can’t wait to reunite with their long-time listeners.
“You can’t force chemistry. Only certain people can finish each other’s sentences,” Grants says. “We’re so excited to be working together again, doing the show we’ve always dreamed of to every corner of New Zealand!”
Leon Wratt, Group Content Director – Music, MediaWorks Radio says, “We are really excited to welcome Polly and Grant to Mediaworks and have them reconnect with their nationwide audience and fans through rova and More FM.”
