Meghan Markle has opened up on her struggles as an aspiring actor, and has said she was once so broke she couldn’t afford to fix her car.
While Meghan’s life today is a far cry from her days of early obscurity, the 35-year-old, who now dates British royalty, remembers a time when she drove to auditions in a “beat up, hand-me-down Ford Explorer Sport.”
The car was in such bad shape that she had to climb in and out through boot after the doors jammed shut, the UK Mirror reports.
There was also the not insignificant matter of having to tie the car’s number plate to the bumper and worries it sounded like a “steamboat engine”, reports News.com.au.
“The clicker wouldn’t open the front doors and I couldn’t afford to fix this car and this was how I got from one audition to the other.”
“So what I would start to do is literally go to these auditions, park at the back of the parking lot and I would open my trunk… and crawl into the back of my car to the front seat to drive off to my next audition,” Meghan revealed in an interview.
These days the Suits star is not only recognised for her stellar acting abilities, she also has an international following as a fashion blogger and style influencer. Then, there’s the not so insignificant fact she’s dating Prince Harry.
The couple, who’ve been an item for around 6 months, initially kept news of their romance well and truly under wraps.
Not long after news leaked, Prince Harry confirmed the two were in a relationship and issued a Royal Statement requesting the press respect the couple’s right to some degree of privacy.
Over the course of their budding romance, Prince Harry has introduced Meghan to some very important family members including Prince William and Prince Charles.
Most recently Harry took things a step further, and introduced his sweetheart to his sister-in-law, Duchess Catherine, and his 20-month-old niece, Princess Charlotte.
