Mariah Carey’s HIV Positive sister has been arrested on a charge of prostitution in the US.
According to the Daily Freeman, Alison Carey was arrested by police in an undercover operation in a New York hotel.
A police officer reportedly posed as a client and arrested Mariah’s estranged sister after she “solicited money in exchange for sexual favours”, the publication said.
Police say Alison made a point of mentioning she was related to the famous singer.
Officers then described her as transient, and say they set up the sting after they reportedly noticed Alison advertising her services online.
The ad allegedly said “I’m a pretty looking lady looking for guys who are looking to have some fun and get into a world of pleasure that other woman just can’t provide you.”
It reportedly then went onto reference Mariah’s chartbusting hit song Fantasy.
Joseph Sinagra, Chief of Police, said anyone who has had sexual contact with Alison should see their doctor immediately.
Her bail is set for $1000 and she will appear in court on August 30.
Alison has previously reached out to her superstar sibling to assist her with her troubled life.
The recovering drug addict released a video to the Daily Mail pleading with Mariah to end their rift and give her the help she needs.
“Mariah, I love you and I desperately need your help,” the video says.
But the Honey singer refuted claims she’d abandoned her sister in her time of need.
“Through the years, Mariah has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting Alison and her children,” the rep told the publication.
“In fact, Mariah has supported her extended family for over two decades.”
A source tells PEOPLE that Mariah and Alison had been estranged “for years.
“Mariah takes care of her entire family and I’m sure this is very painful for her,” the source said.
Mariah doesn’t need this scandal right now. The legendary singer is gearing up for her upcoming wedding to James Packer and her new TV series, Mariah’s World.
