Lorde's song banned from San Francisco radio stations

The World Series is the biggest event in US major league baseball every year and understandably, it gets a lot of people fired up about their home teams.

One of the first games in the series pits the San Francisco Giants against rivals the Kansas City Royals – so local radio stations are showing their support by pulling ‘Royals’ off the air until after the series.

While the song itself isn’t about baseball, Lorde (real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor) has mentioned being inspired by an old photo of a Kansas City Royals player in an issue of National Geographic. For the stations in San Francisco, that (and the word ‘royals’ in the song) seems to be enough reason to keep it out of radio play for now!
