Kanye West visits Donald Trump: “We’ve been friends for a long time”

On Tuesday, Kanye was spotted visiting the president-elect at the tightly guarded Trump Tower in New York.

Speaking with E! News, a source has revealed that the unlikely pair met to discuss Kanye becoming an “ambassador of sorts.”

The source added that Trump has Kanye pegged for an “entrepreneurial leadership role.”

According to the New York Times, a spokesperson for Trump revealed it was actually Kanye who requested the meeting.

“The meeting was requested by Kanye and we were delighted to host him,” the spokesperson wrote, adding, “They had a very positive and productive conversation.”

The pair met for a brief time before returning to the building’s lobby to answer questions.

The unlikely pair met in the famous Trump Tower located in New York.

When asked about the meeting, Trump said “Just friends, just friends, and he’s a good man.”

He added, “We’ve been friends for a long time.”

When questioned about the reason for meeting, Trump responded: “Life. We discussed life.”

Trump and Kanye were kind enough to pose for photos.

Kanye remained silent as reporters questioned him, instead opting to explain the meeting later that day on Twitter. The Jesus Walks rapper tweeted, “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.”

He added, “I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”

The news comes after Kanye was forced to cancel the remaining 21 shows of his Saint Pablo tour due to hospitalisation at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on November 21.

According to TMZ, sources close to the rapper and his reality TV star wife, Kim Kardashian-West, said that during this time he was “profoundly depressed and paranoid”.
