Kanye West has been hospitalised at UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation, according to TMZ.
The media outlet reports that law enforcement responded to a call for a welfare check on the rapper at around 1:20 pm (local time), but he wasn’t home. Kanye was reportedly with his own doctor being checked for ‘severe sleep deprivation’ when a decision was made that he needed to be admitted to hospital.
Paramedics took Kanye to the hospital in an ambulance, but he was allegedly unwilling to go and had to be restrained when he was transported, according to TMZ.
Kris Jenner spoke out about her son-in-law’s health while on the red carpet for the Angel Ball in New York City today, telling Entertainment Tonight that Kanye’s tour was “gruelling”.
“I think he’s exhausted. Just really tired,” she revealed. “It’s a gruelling tour.”
The news comes after he abruptly cancelled the rest of the dates on his Saint Pablo tour, just days after calling off a scheduled show in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Earlier this month, the ‘Famous’ rapper also made headlines for his controversial rants at previous shows, where he hit out at Facebook, Jay Z, Beyonce and Hillary Clinton.
“If I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump,” he told fans at a gig in San Jose, California last week, adding, “I wanted to say that before the election, but they told me, ‘Whatever you do, don’t say that aloud.’”
Later that week, he turned his attention to Beyonce and her win for Video of the Year at the 2016 MTV VMAs.
“Beyonce, I was hurt, because I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over Hotline Bling,” he said during his November 19 show.
“In my opinion, now, don’t go trying to diss Beyonce. She is great. Taylor Swift is great. We are all great people. We are all people. But, sometimes, we be playing the politics too much and forgetting who we are, just to win.”
He also called out close pal Jay Z, who he previously accused of failing to visit the family after Kim Kardashian’s harrowing armed robbery ordeal in Paris, and slammed Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg for failing to give him US$53 million to get out of debt.
The father-of-two eventually left the show early after having turned up 90 minutes late to the concert, with fans reporting that Ticketmaster later offered them a refund for the concert.

The tour featured an unusual floating stage with Kanye performing above his fans.
Kanye had 21 dates remaining on his Saint Pablo Tour and was scheduled to be performing through to the end of the year.
The ‘Fade’ rapper had previously cancelled some dates of his tour last month, after Kim was held up at gunpoint in Paris. Kanye learned the news while performing in New York and abruptly left the stage to be by his wife’s side.
While Kanye has yet to comment publicly on the cancellation of his tour, a source tells The Daily Mail that the rapper is “just exhausted”.

The rapper returned to his Saint Pablo Tour recently after taking time off to support his wife Kim after her terrifying ordeal in Paris.
