Joan Rivers was rushed to a New York hospital around 9am on Thursday (local time).
The comedian, actress and Fashion Police critic stopped breathing during a medical procedure on her vocal cords and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
The 81-year-old was placed in a medical induced coma by doctors, with plans to bring the actress out of the coma over the weekend.
Daughter Melissa Rivers released a statement shortly after she arrived at her mother’s bedside on Thursday evening.
‘I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.’
According to sources the actresses condition has since been upgraded from critical to stable.
